Dehydrated skin, what is it?

Nearly 90% of the population suffers from dehydrated skin. Dehydrated skin is not a synonym to dry skin. Dry skin is a skin type, whilst dehydrated skin is a skin condition so, for example, oily skin can be dehydrated.

When your skin is dehydrated, you may notice itchiness, dullness, tightness, and/or more noticeable fine lines.

According to one of my favorite skincare books, Milady, ''dehydration is caused by the compromised permeability of the lipid barrier; cracks in the skin due to a decrease in the suppleness, softness, and flexibility of the stratum corneum; a reduction in size of the flattened corneocytes; and a lower capacity by the skin to retain moisture, usually resulting from decreased glycosaminoglycan levels due to skin ageing or damage. Dehydration is aggravated by atmospheric conditions and overuse of inappropriate skincare products including harsh cleansers and not drinking enough water''.

Some of the key ingredients that help with dehydration are:

  • HYALURONIC ACID keeps your skin hydrated by making sure that water doesn’t escape from your skin’s surface.

  • CACTUS WATER contains a balance of electrolytes, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants making it a perfect combination for a fresh faced skin.

  • ALOE VERA increases the concentration of collagen in skin, protects against solar radiation, has anti-inflammatory effects.

  • HONEY exerts emollient, humectant and soothing properties .

  • SODIUM PCA prevents your skin cells from losing water and thereby protects the barrier function of your skin.

Our hydrating serum, with not one but all ingredients listed above, is a lightweight gel targets the skin at multiple levels, helping to attract and retain moisture on skin. Infuse your dehydrated skin instantaneously. And is oil-free so can be used on oily skin / acne-prone too!
